The Complete Self

Know Yourself. Become Your Best.

Know Your Limits by Testing Them.

Why on earth did I hold out for an iPhone 4G?

I recently ditched my Samsung Net10 phone. It just couldn’t keep up with where I wanted to go with my business and social life. Seriously. When I traveled (which I have done a lot of recently) I would tote along my phone, Netbook, GPS, digital voice recorder, HD Flip Cam and my iPod. I’m not saying I was living in the days of horse and buggies, but I did bring a bunch of stuff around with me.

What now? I spent the last 10 hours, 3 minutes

I’ve been thinking. I’m wondering what YOU would do if you didn’t have to pay for your housing next month?

If you’re a home owner; what would you do if you didn’t have to pay you next mortgage payment, or save that extra money away to make your property tax payment?

I know our home mortgage use to be a little over $…

My Scion XB

Do you have a car that is becoming a burden to pay off every month? Do you have a car and would like to cash it out to pay off high-interest unsecured debt like credit cards, personal loans or student loan, etc.? If it is not generating money for you and you have outstanding debt, selling the car you have and down-sizing may be a good option for you.

When I was fresh out of college, I was in big-time debt…

Eat Like a Horse

Many people feel that to lose weight, they have to cut down on how much they eat. In some cases that may be true. However, when putting on muscle and staying fit, you may have to eat like a horse.

When working through my last 30-day weight gain experiment, I found that I got what I call “food fatigue.” I was eating so much – more than twice what I normally did, that I just got tired of eating. I wouldn’t even be hungry for the next meal when the time came. I was eating 5 meals a day.

What did I do? Well, not enough. As I ate the right foods and cut out fast food, sodas, large desserts, had a “vacation day” every week where I could eat whatever I wanted…

Since about the age of 15 or so, I have considered myself a night owl. I would stay up or out late and get up late. I even carried that into adulthood. I would stay up until 1:00AM or 1:30AM working on websites, video production, etc.

However, over the last several months I have been contemplating changing my life. Not that my life was bad or I was miserable, I just wanted to raise my standards.

Around April 27th, 2009 I heard of a program about changing your daily routine. I almost immediately decided to follow this simple program on how to become more productive with my day. At the time I was waking up at about 8:00AM or 8:30AM and my wife and children were up an hour or so before me. I worked late every night and was feeling disconnected with my wife and kids – at least to the extent that I was feeling “out of the loop” in their daily routine. I wanted to contribute to the morning routine. Several changes have happened since then and I want to tell you how it happened…

cottage

When I was around twelve years old, my mom and dad started taking me and my brother and sister up to my aunt’s cabin in Minocqua, WI. I had the fortune of spending extended weekends on Twin Bear Lake almost every year.

I remember experiencing the coolness of the dark cabin as my dad creaked open the door in early spring. It felt as if we were the first explorers to enter Tut’s Tomb. The rush of cedar and damp stillness of the air added to the mystery. Dad would walk over to the curtains and slide them open with a silence-breaking woosh. Blinding light poured into the cavernous great room as clouds of dust that sat patiently on the wool curtains for seasons awoke with the thunder. My brother, sister and I then hauled in crates and bags of delicacies from the family station wagon.

The Caprice wagon was like another character in our story…

I do a lot of my work remotely. The freedom of being officeless is great. My office is wherever I have a link to the internet – or not. I can develop products and ideas on paper to. Since I have freed myself from a work location, I have been able to spend even more time with my children.

We recently pulled my daughter out of half day childcare to watch her on our own every day.

DC-9

I have flown first-class and I have to say I did like it. I was bumped from coach because I asked to be put on a list. I just asked the person at the Delta desk, “If first class is not full, I’d like to be put on the waiting list. Thank you.” That is it.

That doesn’t work every time obviously. I want to tell you the best second option.
